At home children can use a mind map to help plan a....
- Camping trip - By allowing the children to assist with the planning of a camping trip, the children are learning an essential skill in mind mapping their ideas, but they are also able to take greater ownership over the learning that takes place around the camping experience, and will engage with all aspects of the school camp, not just the fun things.
- Shopping list - By having a mind map around the shopping list, you are less likely to forget anything that you need. You are also able to plan what you are going to buy, and if you have a budget to stick to, you are able to identify items that are essential, and items that you can put back if you do need to save costs. When making a map of the shopping list, we would recommend four main categories of essential, non-essential, toiletries, and luxury goods.
- Christmas present wish list - A mind map of Christmas gift shopping is an excellent way to ensure that everybody that needs to be covered is covered, and also allows you to have greater control over what you buy, and when you buy it. By having a detailed plan around what each person is going to receive, it cuts down the possibility of impulse buying, and budget overruns.
- Dream holiday - Imagine that you are planning a dream holiday, and that you need to have the wants and needs of your entire family included in the trip. Where do you begin. By creating a mind map, you are able to have a branch for each of the family members wants, but also have branches for things like accommodation and transport. Or you can have a branch for each important aspect of the trip, then sub branches for each member of the travelling party. The possibilities of how to create a mind map are endless, and are only limited by your imagination.
